Madeline first complained of arm pain in the winter of 2017. After an urgent care visit, she was referred to the ED at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. Once they ruled out “all the scary stuff,” we were told to follow up with our pediatrician if Madeline did not begin to feel better. The pediatrician referred us to an orthopedist. After some slow improvement of what the doctors thought was torticollis, an MRI was ordered. On January 29, 2018 they found a tumor around her spinal cord. A biopsy was done and chemo started. Madeline spent many weeks recovering in the rehab unit at Scottish Rite and endured many rounds of radiation.

Madeline’s high-intensity treatment all in all will be a little bit over a year. She is currently getting chemo and has scans coming up soon!
