Madeline is the daughter of Noah McNeely, Product QuickStart’s founder. She is a pediatric cancer survivor with an inspiring story.
Madeline first complained of arm pain in the winter of 2017. After an urgent care visit, she was referred to the emergency department at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. Once they ruled out “all the scary stuff,” we were told to follow up with our pediatrician if Madeline did not begin to feel better. The pediatrician referred us to an orthopedist. After some slow improvement of what the doctors thought was torticollis, an MRI was ordered. On January 29, 2018 the doctors found a tumor around her spinal cord. A biopsy was done and chemo started. Madeline spent many weeks recovering in the rehab unit at Scottish Rite and endured many rounds of radiation.
Madeline’s cancer type was very rare (atypical malignant rhabdoid), without a standard roadmap of treatment, so the oncologists attacked it with every weapon available to them. Madeline’s went through a high-intensity chemo and radiation regimen. We practially lived at the hospital some weeks.
Thank God, Madeline’s treatment plan worked beautifully and she was able to stop chemo treatment in 2021! Though she still has to undergo periodic MRI scans, she is considered cancer-free.
Along her cancer journey, many organizations and individuals were there for us and for Madeline. We are forever grateful to the organizations below. Please consider donating to these organizations today to help make life better for cancer kids and to fund research that will lead to better treatments with fewer side effects and ultimately cures! Thank you for all your support!
